Purchasing your firewood during the summer months will not only save you money, it looks good in your garden aswell. You can choose for a timeless wood storage by stacking the firewood the right way. So you can store your firewood for a long time and it will look good aswell.

Dry firewood

You will get the highest efficiency when the firewood is dry. A moisture percentage of 15%, maximum 20%, will be good. What happens when there is more moisture in the firewood? This will be at the expense of the heat wich the firewood gives off. Firewood will be directly usable when purchasing kiln dried firewood. Firewood wich will be kiln dried can not take in any water, so it can be stored outside. However, choose the "dry" side of your home, or the North-East or South-East side. It is also important that the wind can blow through the firewood, so the quality of the wood is preserved longer!

Chopped a tree yourself or purchased "wet" firewood? Make sure that the firewood is well sawn and split. By this, the surface will be enlarged so the water can evaporate easier. There is a bigger contact surface with the air so moisture deposites easier to the enviroment.
